Neurodivergent Relationships

A self-paced course exploring communication, consent, sensory differences, trust, and intimacy in neurodivergent relationships. With practical exercises to support clearer understanding, explicit agreements, and meaningful connection.

  • Introduction

Many relationship models assume shared norms, unspoken rules, and intuitive communication. For neurodivergent people, those assumptions often create confusion, disconnection, or repeated misunderstandings - even in deeply caring relationships. This upcoming course is designed to support neurodivergent people (and their partners) to understand one another more clearly, communicate more explicitly, and build relationships that feel safer, more sustainable, and more authentic. Rather than focusing on “fixing” relationship problems, this course centres understanding, consent, and intentional connection.

  • Overview

This course will explore how neurodivergent nervous systems shape connection and conflict, and how making the implicit explicit can reduce misunderstanding without blame or shame. It will look at contracting for what feels good, what feels hard, and what feels possible, alongside the impact of sensory differences on intimacy and closeness. The course also focuses on trust, repair, emotional safety, and consent as an ongoing relational process, with an emphasis on building intimacy that respects difference rather than overriding it.

  • What it includes

The course will include practical, relatable exercises designed to be done together, supporting couples to slow down, reflect, and build shared understanding in ways that feel realistic and grounded. There will also be space to acknowledge and explore experiences common in neurodivergent communities, including non-traditional relationship structures, queerness, and kink - where communication, consent, and explicit negotiation are often already central. This is a course about creating relationships that work because of difference, not in spite of it.
